Featuring premium materials and build quality, if you’ve just picked one up, it’s probably in your best interest to invest in a protective case that will keep it safe from the rigours of everyday life. With a myriad of options to choose from and consider, we thought we’d put together this little guide to make your decision-making process a bit easier.
Below we’ve compiled a list of some great multi-purpose iPhone 12 cases that you might want to consider.
If you just want a simple case that works well and shows off the design of your iPhone, a clear minimally designed case would likely serve you well. These slim cases are best suited for those who just need a basic level of protection against scuffs, scratches, and a bit of drop protection as well.
These cases are usually made of a hard plastic that can yellow overtime and furthermore you can also find variations that are Qi wireless charging and MagSafe compatible. Check out our Fremont Clear iPhone 12 case, it features anti-yellowing UV protection while also being Qi and MageSafe compatible.
As the name would suggest, these kinds of cases usually feature some designed elements. This could come by way of custom graphic design or unique textural elements to name a just few! The options that exist in this segment are quite vast to say the least. It will come down to your own unique taste, preferences, and if you also want some level of protection as well.
Folio casesare fast becoming a favourite for those who want their personal essentials together with their phone. Think of them as a hybrid wallet/purse/cell phone case. There are many designs and variations to choose from with most of them are able to carry one to two cards as well as some folded cash. With our Sunset Blvd Magnetic Wallet Folio you can fit up to 6 cards, some cash, and also benefit from EMF radiation + RFID shielding for data protection.
Rugged cases are designed to take a beating. If you’re someone whose prone to (accidentally) dropping your phone or if you work in a tougher environment you should really consider this kind of case. They usually feature a host of added value protective features and are likely to be a bit bulkier than other offerings. It’s common for these cases to come with some form of IP (Ingress Protection) rating while some can go as far as being military drop tested which in addition to drops can also consider things like heavy shock, water damage, extreme cold, high temperatures, and dust exposure, etc.
Our Grip Armor Rugged Cases offer MIL-STD 810G 8 feet military drop protection, raised bezels, and come with a non-slip matte finish that reduces the likelihood of accidental drops.
Car mounts, as with the times, have progressed heavily. They can now be affixed to air vents, dashboards, windshields and can even utilize magnets or traditional adjustable clasps to keep the actual device in place. Furthermore, many offerings now also come with Qi wireless charging built-in by default.
If you have a car, not only will you want to consider getting a car mount to keep your device held safe while driving (we have a wide variety to choose from), but you’ll also want to make sure that your phone properly fits in the mount. This is especially important if you’ve decided to invest in a protective case, as the case itself will add a bit of bulk to the device's physical footprint.
When considering a phone case that will be used in conjunction with a car mount, you must first consider the kind of mount you have. The two kinds we’ll discuss here are mounts that feature adjustable clasps and ones that are entirely magnetic.
Mounts that utilize adjustable clasps to hold the phone in place typically accommodate a max width of 100 mm (milimeters). So if this is the kind of mount you’ve got, you’ll want to make sure that the max width of your device with the case on doesn’t exceed 100 mm.
If you’ve got a mount that uses high-powered magnets, then as you’d expect, you’re going to need a case that has a built-in inner magnetic ring. While it seems straightforward enough, it’s a pretty easy requirement to gloss over when looking for a new phone case.
To add another layer to this, many car mounts on the market are now Qi wireless charging compatible which (to further complicate things) can be present in both adjustable clasp and magnetic variations. In this scenario, you’ll want to make sure that the case you end up choosing is compatible with Qi wireless charging AND does not exceed 100 mm in width OR has a magnetic inner ring depending on the kind of mount you’ve got.
Our Magneto Rugged Cases are compatible with both magnetic and adjustable clasp car mounts as well as variations of either that feature Qi wireless charging.
